MT. KALISUNGAN TRAIL RUN 2024
Mt. Kalisungan is a
mountain situated in the town of Calauan, Laguna that stands at 630 MASL. From
the flatlands of Brgy. Lamot, the trail quickly ascends to a covered path of
forest trees and bushes leading to the top. Its grassland summit offers
spectacular views of peaks and bodies of water from surrounding towns and
provinces. Included are the Banahaw Trilogy: Mt. Cristobal, Mt. Banahaw, Mt.
Banahaw de Lucban, and the seven lakes of San Pablo on the south. Views of
Laguna de Bay, and the quaint island of Talim cover the northern side. On the
west is a view of Mt. Makiling and the Malarayat Mountain Range. And to the
east is Mt. Atimla.
Historically,
Mt. Kalisungan played a significant role in World War II as it served as the
last stand for retreating Japanese soldiers in the province of Laguna. After
some time, the locals erected a cross on the summit which devout Catholics have
then visited during Holy Week as one of the stations of the cross.
Kalisungan
Trail Run is an eco-friendly activity that can showcase the beauty and history
of the mountain to its participants. With beginner-friendly distances of 10km
and 16km, seasoned and new trail runners will experience adventure-pack running
bliss.
